I’m putting it out there. 2016 is going to be my best year ever! Period.
Life is short – often too short for all we want to achieve. Wouldn’t you agree? Life is also for living. Now. In the present moment.
I have decided it’s time for me to do or not do, (there is no try). If that phrase rings a bell in your mind, see this wonderful article over on Michael Hyatt’s blog. It inspired me today.[Tweet “Stop being distracted by ‘weapons of mass distraction’ – JLD #success”]
So it’s time for me to stop dreaming and start doing. It’s time to stop procrastinating. It’s time to stop getting distracted by the bright shiny object syndrome. Some call that the ‘weapons of mass distraction’.
Looking back, Trish and I had a good 2015 because we set ourselves goals in a few different areas of our lives. Then we held each other accountable, by sitting down every couple of weeks to check on progress.
We also kept to a 12-week horizon, only looking that far ahead each time. And that really did help us.
As I write, we have set out the 4 key areas that we are focussing on this year but we have yet to nail down all the specifics. I’m not going to tell you here what the 4 areas are, (email me and I might let you in on the secret) but the cool thing is – they spell out WHAM! Memorable, eh?
So what’s next?
The main question I faced last year was: ‘what is my purpose and my message?’. You will have followed some of that reflection and discovery here on the blog no doubt.
I want to share with you what I have decided to focus on after listening to myself and your comments, emails and our conversations together. Thank you for all your input – I do this to help you and others just like you.
My CX message in 2016
I will continue to write about customer experience (CX), because it is close to my heart and I now have 20 years of experience working around the world in this arena.
My CX focus will be on the topics that most fire me up:
- Social Media meets CX
- CX and your (company’s) culture
- Delivering consistent CX in a 24x7x365 world
My aim is to shine a light on the truly world class experiences out there. There is so much mediocrity that I want to focus on people and companies that excel. I want you to join me on the journey. Please do get involved and share examples that you come across. Let’s make the world a better place for the consumer!

My other content in 2016
My passions are helping people, finding solutions to problems and making sense of and using technology. As such, you will also find me putting content out there on:
- defining and getting my message out there
- choosing the right tools and channels for building your online presence
- personal development and motivation to help you be the best you can be.
Where to find me online in 2016
Besides my blog, and as a speaker and lover of video and social media, you can expect more content on:
- My YouTube channel. I believe video will be THE medium for 2016. I am a visual learner and feel it’s a good platform for my message.
- On Snapchat. I want to experiment with this exciting new platform. it is growing fast with influencers like Gary Veynerchuk jumping in feet first.
- On Instagram. I enjoy this platform as it allows me to be creative with my photos and motivational content.
- and of course Twitter and Facebook groups.
No doubt one social media platform will come to the forefront, but that depends on where I build the greatest audience interaction and knowledge exchange. Which one do you think I ought to focus on and why?
So what about your plans?
What is your biggest goal right now? What stops you from moving forward? Does the content I’m planning to share resonate with you – and why?[Tweet “What is your biggest goal right now? #BestYearEver”]
Let’s make this the best year ever! Perhaps you can start by sharing this post with one or two other people you know who will find it interesting. Thank you!
